Well, it's sad looking at my blog. My last post was February 2012.... but so much has happened since then.
I am making it a goal to update here a little more often. Mostly I use this for digital scrapbooking and artwork, however I'll throw in a little family stuff too.
My husband accepted a transfer with his job and we moved from Kansas to Sacramento, CA in May. We have been in a temporary housing situation and are within a few weeks of closing on our new house.
It is definitely interesting the differences we have noticed since we have moved. I thought my experience in the mortgage lending industry before we had kids would be a tremendous help, but it has not been. They do thing here in California so different, that it's just like we are first time homebuyers.
A few weeks ago I thought I would join the rest of the gang and invest in a strapless shirt. I have never worn one, I don't feel comfortable in them and I don't think I have the body type for it. However, I pressed past that and thought I should so I wouldn't have so many sun lines on my upper back. Now take into account that I have not spent much time in the sun because I am so worried about any of us getting sunburned, but hey.... I still bought one.
It's taken me awhile to get the guts up to wear it. I tried one day that we were headed out as a family and James got ahold of it and I went and changed real quick. A strapless shirt is very challenging when you have a 10 month old that is still nursing and has become quite aware of his surroundings. Ahhhh boobies!!!

But, I did it. I wore it out to the zoo today and I'm sure I got quite a few looks because of my "whiteness". James only exposed me once.
I did wear sunscreen, otherwise I might be a lobster. And that brings me to my second thought of the day...... I have always had a very fair complexion. I don't really "tan". My two options are burnt or freckled. I just have to chuckle because we really have not spent a lot of time out in the sun, but the little time we have spent in the pool in the evenings has been just enough. It seems like if an area of my skin sees sunlight, poof there are a million freckles. I have noticed this on my back where my swimsuit is not... I'm sure you can see the pattern......
My shoulders usually have a few freckles, but they see more sun than the rest of me because I'm always in a tank top... however, the other areas of my back, they were white before moving to California less than 2 months ago. All them brown freckles seem to have popped up overnight.
I am just going to turn into one big freckle.
I might wear the strapless shirt more around the house. Maybe I will get used to it -
kind of like a tampon, you'll eventually forget about it.
I also have to say it was hot out today (by CA standards)..... my car said it was 89 (Humidity 19%) when we left the zoo at 2 pm. Even the mist-ers were on at the zoo and both Katriel & James loved walking through them.
(I just had to add that for all my KS friends, one of whom just posted that her car read 127.)
Also, another first for me today..... I parallel parked the mini-van for the first time and got it on the first try..... And it was on a curve..... like I said, they do some strange things out here.....
Toot! Toot!
Hope you have a great day!
