Elf on the Shelf

I guess this was not a new concept, but until the tv program came on the day after Christmas, I had no idea about the Elf on the Shelf.
I thought it was a neat idea, so decided to get it.
The idea is great, the product was not. It sells for $30 and the Elf looks like it's a dollar store quality elf. If I find a cute elf I am going to replace him.
So the night I brought it home we sat down & read the story & decided on a name for our elf.
Jingles is our Elf's name.Well.... if it had been up to Katriel alone, his name would be "M". Why we don't know.... but she quickly caught on that it was Jingles.

So before I go too far I'll give you the run-down of the story, for those that don't know.
The Elf is Santa's helper & comes to watch over the household before Christmas. Each night he flies home to Santa & reports whether you've been good or bad. And then when he "flies" back the next morning, he lands somewhere different. But, you can't touch him or he will lose his magic. Then on Christmas Eve when Santa comes he goes back with him until next year.
I have seen some pretty elaborate & creative places that Elves land each day or activities that they do. There is even several lists like "101 things for the Elf on the Shelf" and such.
I tried to take pictures of where Jingles "landed" everyday, but I did miss a few places.

This was the first morning.

Jingles fell off his post this morning and had to "fly" back up again. I had to convince Katriel to go in Mom's room while Jingles "flew" back, because we could not help him or he would lose his magic. When he landed the second time, he made sure to hang on tight.
This time he made sure to land somewhere a little more sturdy. Actually, he had to land very quickly because he got back late & heard little pitter patter of feet because someone was up early.
He was taking a bubble bath with Barney, Pooh bear & Scooby Doo was watching. Now that I type that, it sounds a little creepy..... will have to re-think for next year.
Another not so successful landing.
And the final landing on Christmas Eve.

Jingles is back safe & sound with Santa until next year.
My advice to anyone who is interested in starting the "Elf" tradition would be to find a cute elf, write down the general information about the story & then let the fun begin.
