Happy New Year!

Ok - so it's been a long while since I've blogged on my own blog page... oops!
I am going to try to be better at this, so to start I'm going to share a few things we did for Christmas. I really should be packing the Christmas decorations away, but it will still be there tomorrow.
So if you haven't heard by now there is this really cool thing called pinterest.com and I'll just warn you it can be addictive. But, I am finding all kinds of cool things that I want to make.
The first thing I attempted was a felt Christmas tree that the kids can decorate themselves.
The idea behind it is that hopefully if they have their own tree to decorate, they will leave the real tree & ornaments alone.

It took me a little bit to gather all the supplies together & then I had to be all technical and make the tree proportional.
So we ended up with a really tall tree.
And then I cut presents, the star & ornaments from different colors of felt.
I did get kind of discouraged and almost put the whole project away when my ornaments did not stick to the felt. I thought felt stuck to felt, but I guess not the kind I bought.
I ended up buying velcro & putting it on the back of the ornaments to get them to stick. The tree is stuck to the door using 3M adhesive strips. However, I am not sure how this will work year after year. They will come off the door easily this year, but I don't know that I can reuse them & I hot glued them on. And then we also had some droopage with the felt.
So I guess that's another project to complete.
This was the first day that I put the tree up and I think the only day that Katriel played with it. But, it's a neat idea and one that will go up year after year.
I also created little light bulbs & decorated them with glitter paint, but guess I didn't get a picture of them. Before I pack it all away I'll try to remember to take a final picture & post it.
So there were great parts about this idea & some things that need tweaked.
Here is the link to where I found the idea:
