Bobcat room decor - pillow covers

So since we've moved in back in July 2012, I have had a list of ideas to decorate our office.
It was painted a blue color when we moved in & happened to be one of the rooms we didn't get a chance to paint before our stuff was delivered.
That is ok... the blue color will work for awhile... it's a bit dark but hubby did get the ceiling painted white, so it helps brighten up the room a bit.
My list of decorations has continued to grow, but this week I was able to get 1 thing crossed off.

I have had these old, cruddy pillows that we've saved from a couch that we haven't owned in many, many years.
These pillows are oh so comfy, my hubby just doesn't understand.... he thinks I'm crazy.
So, I decided I should make pillow covers for them.
What better use for them than adding to our "Bobcat" office/guest room decor.

Here are the pieces of the pillows before appliqueing the Bobcats on & sewing them together.

And here are the completed pillow covers.

 Go Bobcats!

 My little helper...

And then I ran into a snag, which I kind of anticipated.... My old pillows were too big for the cases....
So I had to cut them up, re-sew them & re-stuff them. Which turned out all right because after years of good use, the stuffing needed to be more compact.

And here they are covering the pillows.

On our guest bed - Note: they will probably never be like this again... the kids love to move the pillows around. But, once in awhile I might be able to arrange the bed like this and display them.

Close up - I found the yellow pillows at Target on clearance and they were the perfect match.

Now, I noticed that there is a gap in the middle and have a new idea for that....
I have my first MSU Bobcats sweatshirt that is a bit ratty around the edges.... so I may be turning that into a pillow keepsake in the future.

Now on to making curtains.... and then to do some wall decor eventually.
