So I've seen this pop up several times on Pinterest and I even did this before Pinterest existed at a Vacation Bible School many years back.
The kids LOVED it!

Parents were coming up and telling me how great it was that their kids had a craft that they could take home & how much they treasured that item.
So, we recreated it....
In the background you can see some of our back yard. Well, the entire yard is borders by ROCKS!
They are such a pain in the butt!
But, came in handy for this kid-friendly craft.
I didn't get photos of us painted all the rocks red inside... but just imagine, 5 of us around a table with foam brushes in our hands and red paint.
We let them dry for a bit and then it was time to finish them up.
*Hint - great crafting tip I saw years ago - I had an old fitted sheet that got a tear in it... now it's the perfect crafting table cover. I don't care what gets on it and the fitted part goes around any table we have, even our big dining room table with the leaf in.
When it's time for cleanup, I just fold it back up and toss it in with my crafting supplies.
First, we had to glue our eye on.
Of course, wiggle eyes are always a hit.
I used a super great glue for many surface types called E6000.

You can find it in your Michael's or JoAnn craft stores.
I let the kids pick out the wiggle eyes they wanted, show me where to put them and then I was in charge of this super adhesive.
And then we had to put the spots on our ladybugs.
At first, I was thinking of using paint brushes....
But, what better way for kids to do it than their fingers.
And as you saw, each child painted their spots on a bit different.
The kids loved it.
They can't wait to paint more pet rock creatures.
Enjoy!

These are super cute!
