June sewing project #1

So June was filled with a few crafty projects.....
Have you ever had a project you thought was going to be easy peasy & only $30 to complete.....
Yep - me too! Well let me just say - "Happens to me a lot".....
Recently I saw this posted on Facebook and had to share it on my page....

Well, that is what happened with this project.... My husband and I need a new light quilt for our bed.
"Oh, I can make that for less - fabric is on sale this week."
Oh I also told my husband "Easy Peasy, I'll have it done this week."
Well it's July & I still need to finish it....
Several trips to the JoAnn Crafts store and many more $$$ later, here are some images from my project.

After getting 1/2 of the quilt put together, I realized needed another layer and so I had to seam rip the entire thing apart (actually that didn't take too long). So I had enough fabric to get exactly 1/2 of the quilt done..... I put what I could together and then I sat for a few days, until I could get myself into JoAnns again.
But, I did it....
The funniest part of the entire thing was one night sitting at my sewing machine and my husband is working on his hobbies nearby and I was trying to match the seams together....
Let me tell you - it was interesting.
He made a comment asking what's wrong and I said "Oh the seams are off a bit"
Well, an inch here or there :)
He asked me if I measured my square - "Of course, I did!"
And I said to him...."Well, measuring isn't an exact science."
He loved it!

And hey - for a rag quilt - the measuring didn't have to be an exact science....
Really look - can you tell?

It was recommended to me to buy a pair of spring loaded scissors and it's a fabulous idea. I started to fray all the edges and I must have gotten a dud pair of scissors.
So the quilt has been stuffed in to a bag until I was able to get back to JoAnn Crafts to exchange them.
Now, I should be able to get it finished....
Easy Peasy, right?

Ya, I'll keep you updated when it gets out of the "Project Half Done" (PHD) phase.

Enjoy!
